ABOUT US

Our Mission

Advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research.

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is the nation’s leading voice promoting equity and education for women and girls. Since our founding in 1881, AAUW members have examined and taken positions on the fundamental issues of the day — educational, social, economic, and political.

Why AAUW?

The answer is simple: we offer a collective voice to contest and challenge issues women face, even in our very modern and tech-savvy world.

AAUW is determined to give women a voice in government and in education and a voice on issues like equal pay, fair tenure, women’s health and equity for women and girls.

Our branch is vibrant and active. As a member you can find personal growth and develop leadership skills while making a difference in your community.

The AAUW network is influential and has grown to include 170,000 members and supporters, 1,000 branches, and 800 college and university partners. Only by working together can we continue to improve the world for women and girls.
